Carolyn McGurl, Psy.D

Carolyn McGurl, Psy.D is a licensed Psychologist in Oregon. She did her undergraduate studies at Messiah College. Dr. McGurl graduated with an M.A. and Psy.D. from the Clinical Psychology program at George Fox University. She trained in a school system, in the OHSU Neuro Development Clinic, and at OHSU Richmond Family Medicine. Her dissertation is published as a book chapter in “Video and Filmmaking as Psychotherapy: Research and Practice.” Dr. McGurl completed her doctoral internship at Philhaven Psychiatric Hospital in Mt. Gretna, Pennsylvania. She provides individual and family therapy as well as psychological testing for children and adolescents. Dr. McGurl has particular interest in helping young people to walk through grief. She is passionate about helping families find ways to communicate and to function better. Dr. McGurl loves helping parents/caregivers to better understand their children and to help foster their growth. She works with youth experiencing depression, anxiety, attention and focus issues, adjustment to life changes, and behavioral concerns.  Dr. McGurl enjoys a hike with a rewarding view, trying to maintain the lead on FitBit, spending time with her family, going to the beach, and training for an occasional half marathon.
